Invidious Ordered to Shut Down By YouTube
YouTube has finally noticed that people are using front-ends to avoid ads and download videos instead of paying for YouTube Premium. They have ordered Invidious to shut down within 7 days.
Apparently nobody told them that open source software can't be fully erased because anybody can can simply fork and clone the software.
Invidious can be self hosted but the problem arises when other front-end applications such as FreeTube use Invidious to make their apps work. They want to try and kill the main app that keeps the others working in an attempt to reassert their control. But you cannot control open source software.
Its gonna be a fun game of whack-a-mole where the open source revolutionaries will be one step ahead of big tech.
