Our Money Is Their Power
Corporations Need Profits
Big Tech survives on profits made from products and data from users. Fighting back against the emerging tyrannical surveillance society will require changes to our lifestyle. We must stop using the products and services of corporations such as Microsoft, Google, Meta(Facebook) and Apple and move to open source alternatives that respect privacy and can be replicated instantly through forks.
They conduct surveillance on the scale that they do because consumers give them the money and data they need to do this. Its time to stop being consumers and start being innovators and creators.
Defund Big Tech
We must boycott Big Tech and make it very clear to them why. We make the change because we don't want to be subject to surveillance and we want a free internet again.
They will start to feel the sting of less profit and will be forced to react: If they double down on data gathering to make up for lower sales, if they increase the prices on their products and services, then that will play into our hand. Big tech will become the less appealing choice and more people will move to open source alternatives.
Big tech will be forced to scale back their mass data gathering and downsize their servers. Thus their grip on the internet will be weakened.
We have the power to do this right now. We need only organise under a single cause. The Open Source Revolution is that cause. 🏴☠️
