Youtube Tries to Block Adblockers & Makes Them More Popular
YouTube recently started restricting the ability for adblocker users to access their website. They thought this would force people to turn off their adblockers and allow YouTube to get that ad revenue flowing again. In fact the opposite happened.
More people have started to use open source frontends for YouTube and find more advanced adblockers that the platform cannot yet detect. The pursuit of money and data has resulted in there being even less money and data for the company to collect. If YouTube was to ever shut down all of the frontends and stop all the adblockers the website would become so intolerable that most people who are already disillusioned with the course it has taken will simply just leave to go over to a totally new media website.
I think this is the beginning of the end for YouTube as website platform. Good riddance to the corporate internet and welcome to the new Open Source Internet.
